Healthy Food Incentive Program

DHS is seeking applications from nonprofit entities interested in administering a healthy food incentive program, as established under 2023 Wisconsin Act 201. Per Act 201, the healthy food incentive program shall provide a monetary incentive to any FoodShare program member who uses benefits at an eligible, participating retailer. The incentive should match up to the amount of FoodShare benefits that the member used at the retailer for the purpose of purchasing qualifying fruits and vegetables. The healthy food incentive program is a statewide program. FoodShare members across the state can use the benefit at any eligible retailer. Applicants will be selected to administer the program in each region of the state (map of regions). In administering the program, the selected nonprofit(s) shall prioritize including eligible retailers that source fruits and vegetables primarily from growers in Wisconsin. The nonprofit shall also establish a timeline for the expiration of the monetary amounts provided to the FoodShare program member, no more than one year after the monetary match is provided. Organizations may build off of similar existing programs.
